The dangers of garden

Beware of gardening tools that we often hang out here and there, when you have children. Do you know that this type of accident is the most common in USA.




Obviously, we think the mower, but even a simple stool can become dangerous. Turn your back for five minutes and you can be sure that your children have tried to climb. And yes, it is mimicry, making like dad, but it can end badly.

But accidents do happen to good children. Which has not kept its hedge trimmer with one hand to ward off the other branches?

This data is therefore intended to recall these few evidences:


  • Think disconnect all electrical equipment when you are away even for a moment. This concerns the hedge trimmers, chain saws, drills, and of course the mower.
  • Never put your hand under the mower, or even to remove the foot of the grass blade block, even if it is stopped.
  • Do not leave garden tools such as spade, rake dragged against a wall, keep them systematically.
  • Keep on top of your closet all small tools as sharp as knives, secateurs, shears, ..
  • Also place at the right height all hazardous products such as gasoline, alcohol, white spirit, phytosanitaies products ...
  • Wear gloves and safety glasses when using a grinder because pieces can be thrown violently through the opening.
  • Even the wheelbarrow can become dangerous when used for shopping.
  • Keep your hedge trimmer with both hands and not to release the other branches to ward example. This is a classic accident.
  • Do not drag extension cords. The shock or electrocution frequently.
  • Remember vaccination against tetanus must be renewed regularly.
  • Attention to the drowning of smaller ones that can drop into your pelvis. Do not let the younger unattended around a corner water. The same applies to swimming pools, access must be protected by a self-closing gate and have a height of at least 1.20m.
  • Also beware of poisoning following ingestion of fruits or leaves toxic: the case of fruit holly, leaf prints, rhododendron or oleander. Wash your hands after handling plants.
  • Use treatment products on your plants day or there is no wind .
